Electrifying Finale for Tiger Street Football 2012



Dubbed "One of Asia's Most Exciting Street Football Events" by Edgar Davids

 Vietnam--Media OutReach-- 29 September 2012 - Tiger Street Football 2012 reached its electrifying climax today with Floripa Street Football from Brazil emerging as 'Tiger's Kings of the Streets' after a fierce fight between 10 of the finest converging in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in the presence of one of FIFA's 100 greatest living footballers, Edgar Davids, this year's Tiger Street Football Ambassador.

Organised in partnership with ESPN STAR Sports, this year's tournament saw five of the best street football teams from Holland, France, Spain, Argentina and Brazil, as well as, an estimated 1,500 teams participating in host cities across Asia -- Thailand, Singapore, China, Malaysia and Vietnam this year, up over 50% from 990 teams last year.

The Grand Finals of Tiger Street Football saw players putting on their best cleats and showing off their finesse and skills in rounds of fast-speed battles. This high octane five-a-side game provides quick bursts of heart-pumping, non-stop action played in two exhilarating 6-minute halves and a 2-minute half-time to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With a refreshing format consisting of a unique oval, caged pitch and no side-lines, Tiger Street Football is an electrifying, high-speed platform for players to showcase their distinctive style and talent while providing power-packed on and off pitch entertainment for spectators.

Inspired by the action and passion found in fans in the game of street football, Tiger Beer wanted to create a football experience that is unique and memorable for the public and football fans alike. Besides the exciting football action, the Grand Finals also featured a fun-filled entertainment line-up, which included freestyle football displays by one of the world's greatest football freestylers, 'Nam the Man' performances by popular Vietnamese local singer, Như Ý, high energy dance and cheerleading segments, and appearances by the beautiful Tiger Cage Girls. The carnival atmosphere inherent in the Tiger Street Football events featuring various street style performers and Tiger Cage girls allows the public and football fans to enjoy not just the non-stop adrenaline-fueled action on field but also a football festival centered on football, fun, friends and beer.

Grand Final Game Highlights -- Day One

Yesterday saw Vietnamese fans alternating between watching on the edge of their seats and jumping passionately to their feet, as 32 local street football teams battled it out to become one of the four semi-finalist teams who would emerge victorious and go on to the Grand Finals the next day. The tournament was an example of street football at its best, with high-velocity play and aggressive face-offs. Tran Hoang Cuong, Café Pho An Giang, Huy Hoang and Dat Vinh Tien emerged victorious as finalists to represent Vietnam in the Grand Finals, and the chance to go head-to-head with street footballers from all over the world.

Grand Final Game Highlights -- Day Two

On Day 2 of the competition, avid fans gathered to watch internationally-renowned street footballers and winning teams from the national tournaments battle it out for the prestigious title of 'Tiger's Kings of the Streets'. The round-robin tournament featured Equal FC (Malaysia), Big One Sport (Thailand), Touch N Go (Singapore) and Yi Cui Shi Wei Xian A (China), as well as the four winning Vietnamese teams from Day One, Tran Hoang Cuong, Café Pho An Giang, Huy Hoang and Dat Vinh Tien, and Floripa Street Football and Futsar Argentina from Brazil and Argentina respectively.

 

Floripa Street Football and Equal FC were quick to climb up the scoreboard, eliminating other teams along the way, taking the spectators in a whirlwind series of matches culminating to the electrifying face-off. At the exciting finals, defending champion Floripa Street Football dazzled with their signature tricks and moves that street football is infamous for, alongside an impenetrable defense, to emerge victorious with an impressive scoreline of 7-2 as the grand champions, bagging the glorious title 'Tiger's Kings of the Streets' and the top prize money of USD$30,000. Doing Asia proud is Equal FC from Malaysia, which came in second and earned themselves USD$10,000 with Captain Jamaludin Alias earning the prestigious title of top scorer of the Grand Finals, whilst Futsar Argentina took the third place after a head-to-head battle, with USD$5,000 cash prize. Spurred on by the rapturous home ground cheers, the Vietnamese team, Dat Vinh Tien, made it to the fourth spot.
